Wet, Wild, and absolutely wonderful
Casey came to Nemo with a fun challenge - to create a wedding gown that could shape-shift through her day; from classic and flowing, to fun and fresh, creating a fun moment of surprise during her & Matt’s first dance.
The Nemo team was thrilled with this brief, and relished in the challenge. Despite a couple of curveballs, the finished result was a huge success for all!

• What was the date of your wedding?
We ended up bringing our wedding forward with just 6 days notice!! What an amazing effort all our vendors went through to make this happen! We ended up getting married on the 02.02.2022 - surely my husband won't forget that one!
• Where did you get married?
We got married in a paddock at Glen Dene Station. A special place in Lake Hawea with the beautiful family station, Dingleburn, across the lake in the background.
• Did you have a theme to your wedding?
We had beautiful wooden furniture with the colour scheme of pink, white and gold. Our tables were full to the brim with pink flowers and "fairy floss" scented candles. Of course there were fairy lights throughout with a bit of glitter thrown in the mix.
•Given one sentence, how would you describe your day?
Wet, wild and absolutely wonderful!!
• Did you use a wedding planner or self-style?
I dreamt up everything and made these dreams come true myself! There were many hours on the end of a paint brush, hammer or at the computer designing. I hired some very special bits and bobs from The Rustic Rabbit, Cressy and Charmed, Something Borrowed Something New, and The Little Hire Company.
• What was the favourite moment of the day?
There were so many emotions and so many specials parts I am going to treasure for life. But I think the best part was that everyone was so generally happy! The smiles were true, hearty smiles!
• What was your inspiration when designing your dress with the Nemo team?
I had the idea of wanting the skirt part of my dress to come off in our first dance to reveal a sparkly, white, short party dress! So, Trudy created a beautiful long skirt to go over-top of my party dress. It was unique, fabulous and it worked!
During my first dance, Matt twirled me around and pulled off the skirt. The cheer form our family and friends was awesome! Only Matt (don't worry, he hadn't seen the dress beforehand), my mum and my Maid Of Honour knew about the skirt coming off. It was such a special moment and such a show stopper! Also a bit of a blessing, our day turned out to be so wet so it was so nice to get the heavy and very muddy skirt off!
• How was the service Nemo & the girls provided for you?
It was absolutely fantastic! I had an idea in my head and this is exactly what I got! I wasn't the easiest bride! Having just finished breast feeding we had to deal with this and Trudy and her team also had to get my dress finished within 6 days when we brought the wedding forward.
• What companies would you like to commend for their services on your day?
Jim Pollard (photography), New Zealand Wedding Films (video), Bridal Hair Wanaka (hair), Silversix Pence (make up), The Workroom (florals), Philippa Thomas (celebrant), Queenstown DJ, Four Folk (marquee), Frankie The Nomad (bar), Churchys (catering).
