Josie had originally planned to go to Christchurch, but due to lockdown she popped in for a quick consultation that ended up being an hour-long play in our bridal studio. During the consultation process she tried on a few dress styles where we looked at shapes, fabrics & necklines, while discussing her dream wedding, who she was, and how she wanted to feel on the day.

Being a "mature" bride, Josie knew very clearly that she didn’t want a traditional look or style, and didn’t want to wear anything didn’t feel authentically ‘her.’ As a successful multi-athlete (as is her Husband Mike), it was important that dress made her feel feminine and like a Queen on her wedding day, while also being a style that was age and personality appropriate. A fun design challenge that we were ready to explore with her!

Together we designed a cropped golden skirt that was inspired by our Santorini dress, with a dipped backend (and pockets!) that shimmered in the sunlight and set a fun tone for Josie & Michaels afternoon wedding. Her ivory lace top was made as a bodysuit that was also inspired from a couple of different in-house styles.

The final result was a unique two-piece outfit that made Josie literally glow on her Gibbston Valley wedding day, and that can be worn together or as separates for a long time more.

So many. Our vows (which were a suprise to each other), laughing with friends, and our wedding dance.

• What was your favourite part of creating your own dress with the Nemo team?

Seeing our ideas come to life was pure magic! The bridal outfit that Trudy created for me was absolutely spot on. I couldn’t have asked for something that I loved more.
